ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – UCF and Tulane have agreed to postpone the football game scheduled for Friday evening until Saturday, Nov. 5.
"Taking into account all the latest projections for Hurricane Matthew, we have to keep the safety of everyone involved in these events at the forefront of our decision-making," UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Daniel J. White said. "We appreciate our friends at Tulane and Houston understanding and working with us through this situation. Commissioner Mike Aresco and the American Athletic Conference staff have been very helpful as well."
Both UCF and Tulane had Nov. 5 as an open date on their schedule, making logistics of moving the football game a bit simpler. Any tickets to the UCF-Tulane game for Oct. 7 will be honored on Nov. 5. Kickoff time and any television broadcast information for the Knights matchup with the Green Wave will come at a later date.
"This was the best decision to ensure the safety of all involved," Tulane Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. "Our entire Tulane community extends any support and assistance that may be needed to our friends at UCF. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who may affected by this hurricane."
In volleyball, UCF and Houston will play at 2 p.m. Friday at USF in Tampa. That match was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday at UCF. Sunday's volleyball match with Tulane is still currently scheduled for 1 p.m. at The Venue on campus at UCF.
The Knights also have cross country scheduled to compete in Tallahassee on Friday. Women's soccer is scheduled to be in Tampa Friday to face South Florida. Both teams are currently still scheduled to compete in these events.
Women's tennis is still slated for competition in Tampa Friday-Sunday. The UCF men's tennis team is still scheduled to participate in the Roger Pharr Classic in Orlando Saturday and Sunday.
The Knights' men's soccer team will host Northwestern at the UCF Soccer Complex tonight, and the match will be played as scheduled at 7 p.m. The squad has a match in Memphis on Saturday, which is currently scheduled to be played as planned.
