Orlando, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Last week, more than 110,000 people attended Michigan's season opener and created a loud and intimidating atmosphere as the Wolverines blew out Hawaii. UCF head coach Scott Frost expects that same type of environment when the Knights (1-0) fly north to take on the No. 7/8 Wolverines (1-0) on Saturday.
"I don't think our kids are going to be intimidated or scared," Frost said during the Knights' weekly press conference Monday. "They're going to go in there fighting, but we know we have a challenge in front of us."
But the Knights are prepared to embrace that challenge. The loud environment can have an effect on a team's game plan. But UCF is used to practicing with loud music and already relies heavily on hand signals and non-verbal cues to relay play calls on offense and defense.
"Communication is going to be real big for us," said redshirt junior linebacker Shaquem Griffin.
This will be UCF's first game against the Michigan Wolverines and the Knights' first contest against a ranked opponent since 2014 when they faced the Missouri Tigers for their second matchup of the season.
"It's going to be a big crowd, but I know what me and my teammates can do if we stick together," said redshirt sophomore receiver Tre'Quan Smith.
