Thursday Frost Bytes

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – Head coach Scott Frost made his usual rounds talking to the media Thursday. As usual, he joined Orlando Sentinel columnist/96.9 The Game radio host Mike Bianchi first thing Thursday morning and later addressed members of the media following Thursday's practice.

UCF is wrapping up its preparations for Saturday's American Athletic Conference opener at East Carolina. The Knights and Pirates both enter the contest at 2-2 and both are looking to start off on the right foot in league play.

On the Open Mike program Thursday morning, Frost told Bianchi that he "feels good about where everybody is" as it pertains to the quarterback situation. Both true freshman McKenzie Milton and senior Justin Holman, who have each started a pair of UCF's four games, have left games early over the past few weeks.

"The great thing is, at this point, Justin's won us a game and McKenzie's won us a game and Nick (Patti) came in and did really well last Saturday when he got his chance," Frost said. "So, we'll keep monitoring it and see where everybody is. I feel good about where everybody is. When you have more than one quarterback who you feel can go in and do well, that's a good thing for your team."

When Frost met with the media after Thursday's workout, he reiterated how happy he has been with his team's preparation.

"The week's been good," Frost said. "The guys are dialed in, I think, and ready to go. I think they're excited to play this football game. I think it's going to be a physical battle. If we win the physical matchup, then I like our chances in this game."

He expects the battle between UCF's rushing offense and the Pirates' run defense to be a key to the contest.

"We need to be able to run the ball Saturday," he said. "They have a really good run defense. That's the strength of their defense. So, we're kind of matching up strength versus strength with East Carolina and we need to win our share of those battles."
