Vs. Houston (09-28) - Images by UCF KnightsORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's soccer team opened conference play with authority Thursday, downing visiting Houston 4-0 in a dominating performance.
UCF held the Cougars to just three shots while peppering the opposing goalkeeper with a barrage of shots. 11 different Knights combined for 19 shots and four corner kicks as the Black and Gold pressed the offensive zone all night.
"Every game counts and every win matters," head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "I'm really happy about getting this win and proud of a lot of performances out there tonight."
Offensive Eruption
* Junior Morgan Ferrara started things off in the 34th minute, notching her fourth goal and second game winner of the season. Senior Cortney O'Connell earned her first assist on the play.
* Senior striker Carol Rodrigues added her eighth and ninth goals of the season; she is now just three goals away from passing her 2015 total of 11 goals.
* Junior Bridget Callahan buried her third goal of the year on a corner service from freshman Zandy Soree who captures her third assist on the year.
* Freshman Payton Grewal earns her first point of the season with an assist on Rodrigues' second goal.
* UCF improves to 10-0-1 in the all-time series with Houston
* UCF earned its sixth penalty kick of the season and has converted five-straight after missing the first attempt of the year.
* The Knights outshot the Cougars 19-3.

* The Knights are now 17-4-2 in the month of September under Coach Roberts Sahaydak.
* UCF has out-scored opponents by a 20-9 margin in the month of September, winning five of six.
* The Black and Gold have now scored 26 total goals on the season while holding opponents to just 16.
