Conference Time

Houston/SMU Game Notes

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's soccer team is set to begin its American Athletic Conference portion of the schedule tomorrow night, as it takes on Houston at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights will then continue conference play at home in a match up with SMU on Sunday.

Head-to-Head
Houston comes to town riding a 5-1-1 record, the best non-conference tally in school history. The well-rested Knights are 5-4 but have only lost to ranked opponents including Duke, UNC and a last-minute heartbreaker in its last match on the road at Florida 10 days ago.

The Black and Gold own the all-time series with Houston 9-0-1 and have outscored the Cougars 33-8.

Meanwhile, SMU will face undefeated USF before venturing to Orlando Sunday. The Mustangs are currently 6-3-0 and lead the NCAA in scoring with an average of 3.44 goals-per-game.

UCF is also among the top-25 in the nation in scoring averaging, 2.44 goals-per-game. Playing a difficult non-conference schedule has limited the Knights offensive production but given the team an unparalleled confidence as it prepares for conference play.

The Knights also lead the all-time series with SMU 13-5-0.

UCF by the Numbers
UCF has out-scored opponents by a 16-9 margin including a 5-0 shutout of FIU at home (9.8.16) in the month of Septmeber, winning four of its last five matches.

The Black and Gold's back line will get a boost as freshman defender Julia Ekholm returns to action this week. She started the first 7 games (6 complete including OT vs. OK State) and logged 620-straight minutes before missing the last two matches.

Senior Carol Rodrigues is currently among the top-25 NCAA goal scorers. The Brazilian striker has seven total goals averaging .78 goals-per-game and is on pace to surpass her 2015 season total of 11.

12 different players have scored 22 total goals for the Black and Gold through nine games this season.
