Orlando, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Saturday will be the 15th meeting between the UCF Knights (2-2) and ECU Pirates (2-2) and it will be the American Athletic Conference opener for both squads. The Knights are coming into this weekend's contest with a lot of confidence after defeating the FIU Panthers, 53-14, which was the most points the team has scored since 2014 against the SMU Mustangs.

During non-conference play, the Knights played in a close overtime game against the Maryland Terrapins and traveled up north to face the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines in The Big House. Head coach Scott Frost feels those experiences and coming off a dominate victory will bode well against the Pirates and the rest of their conference opponents.

"I don't think we'll play a team as good as Michigan all year, so that was a good test for us," said Frost during his Monday press conference. "Maryland played well against us and is a good football team. We need those experiences to play people like Houston and people like East Carolina and the rest of our conference going forward."

Through the first four games of the year, the Knights have rushed for 943 yards on offense and are only 32 yards away from last year's season total. The ground game has been extremely effective and important for the Knights and will be a factor on Saturday when UCF faces an ECU rushing defense that's in the bottom half of the conference.

"We come into each week pretty much the same," said senior running back Dontravious Wilson. "Just come in to get better, but obviously it's conference week so now we're more dialed in and the intensity kind of picks up."
