HONOLULU, Hawaii (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF cross country team is set to open the 2016 campaign this weekend at the 16th Annual Big Wave Invitational at Kahuku Golf Course in Honolulu.

The Knights return eight veterans and add five newcomers to the squad in 2016. Freshmen Loren Gallmon, Brittany Gill, Shiree Hinds and Victoria Jung, along with redshirt junior Marissa Codispodi will make their UCF debut on Saturday.

Redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney returns to action after a redshirt season in 2015. The top finisher for the Knights in every meet in 2014, Blaney has been an NCAA National Championship qualifier and won the American Athletic Conference individual title during her tenure at UCF.

Redshirt junior Holly Wooley and junior Rosie Chamberlain provide added depth to the experienced UCF roster. Wooley was the top UCF finisher at the 2015 American Athletic Conference Championship, while both runners posted top 100 finishes at the NCAA South Regional.

The women's 5k race is slated for a 1:45 p.m. EST (7:45 a.m. HAST) start at the Kahuku Golf Course.
