USTFCCCA Week 1 Regional Rankings

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – A dominant start to the season has led to regional recognition for the UCF cross country team. The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) moved the Knights into the regional rankings on Monday.

The Knights, who have earned two team titles in as many meets, landed at No. 13 in the South region.

UCF opened the season on Sept. 3, winning the team title at the Big Wave Invitational in Hawaii. The Knights added to their team titles over the weekend, earning the top spot at the UNF Invitational in Jacksonville on Saturday.

Anne-Marie Blaney has been the top finisher in both meets, winning the UNF Invitational and taking second in Hawaii. Holly Wooley and Rosie Chamberlain have a pair of top 10 finishes each in the first two meets.

Marissa Codispodi, Brittany Gill, Shiree Hinds and Victoria Jung have all made their UCF debut this season and contributed to the team titles.

The Knights moved into the regional rankings for the first time since Sept. 14, 2015. The Black and Gold held the No. 13 slot in that poll.

UCF is one of four teams from the American Athletic Conference in the latest regional rankings. SMU and Tulsa are tied for fifth in the South Central region, while Houston ranks eighth in the South Central region.

The Knights have a bye week from competition and will return to action on Sept. 24 at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville.
