ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's soccer team will host its home opener Thursday Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights will face the UMass Minutewomen, marking the first time the teams will have met since 1995.
The black and gold opened the regular season with two tough road losses last week. Fourth year head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said that playing both opponents, then-No. 3 Duke and No. 9 North Carolina, served as a great early test for the team.
"I think some of our players really came out of their shells [last week] and proved that they are fighters," Roberts Sahaydak said. "Playing two ranked opponents at the beginning of the season was a great challenge and will help prepare us for the rest of the year."
The Knights were 9-2 at home last season and are 27-4-2 at home under Roberts Sahaydak including a perfect 11-0 run in 2014.
