ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) —The UCF volleyball team wraps up its preseason camp with the annual Black and Gold Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. at The Venue, leading into FanFest 2016.
"Our scrimmage is one of the only opportunities for us to get a run-through before competing in the real thing," said head coach Todd Dagenais. "Unlike other teams, we don't have exhibition matches, so when the ball flies in the opener next week, it is a real match."
The scrimmage allows Dagenais to try multiple lineups and get into the swing of the pregame timeline before the Knights hit the hardwood for their first match.
The Black and Gold return six starters, including a 2015 all-conference player in senior Jale Hervey, and add six newcomers to the 2016 roster. Hervey was joined by redshirt junior Kia Bright on The American preseason team, while the team was projected to finish fourth in the coaches preseason poll.
UCF open the 2016 campaign hosting the Holiday Inn UCF Invitational on Aug. 26. The Knights take on the Seawolves of Stony Brook at noon, followed by Kent State at 7:30 p.m.
