ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Danny White has announced that head baseball coach Terry Rooney is leaving the Knights to pursue another coaching opportunity.
"We wish Terry and his family the best of luck," White said. "During his tenure at UCF, Coach Rooney showed a great deal of passion for his players and the program. We thank him for his efforts over the past eight years. Terry and his teams have laid a great foundation to continue building on in the future."
Rooney has been the head coach at UCF for eight seasons, taking over the program in June of 2008. He compiled an overall record of 261-209 leading the Knights. He was the 2014 American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and led the Knights to NCAA postseason play in 2011 and 2012.
White has named Ryan Klosterman as interim head coach and announced a national search to name a new head coach will begin immediately.
