The Knights received the award for the sixth time in the last seven seasons, with all six coming under head coach Todd Dagenais.
"This award is one of our primary non-athletic goals each and every year," said Dagenais.
The team posted a 3.299 GPA in the fall while posting a 15-17 record during the 2015-2016 season. The Knights earned a 3.407 cumulative GPA in the spring, with redshirt freshman Brooke Imirie posting a 4.0 GPA during both semesters. Halle Scott also recorded a 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.
"It's not easy to try and strive to be a top-50 caliber program and be extremely successful in the classroom," Dagenais continued. "This team and this program has embraced that drive for excellence in both areas."
An all-time high of 762 teams were honored by the AVCA for excellence in the classroom. The Knights were one of four American Athletic Conference squads to earn the distinction.
Initiated during the 1992-93 academic year, the award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale during the academic year.
