ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Tyler Pate, Nicolo De Fraia and Arjun Watane were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as 2016 ITA Scholar Athlete award winners.

Rising junior Tyler Pate earned his second straight ITA Scholar Athlete honor. The Lake Alfred, Fla., native earned seven wins while playing No. 2 doubles, and four singles wins during his sophomore campaign. In the classroom, Pate posted matching 4.0 GPA semesters to earn President's Honor Roll laurels for the year.

Posting 16 wins during his sophomore season, rising junior Nicolo De Fraia led the Knights in singles victories. He collected eight wins at No. 5, and clinched three matches for the Knights during the dual-match season. Extending his excellence to the classroom, the Cagliari, Italy, native was named to the Dean's List in both the fall and spring semesters.

Rising senior Arjun Watane collected five wins in singles action during the fall. In the classroom, he was named to both the Dean's List and President's Honor Roll. In February 2016, the Orlando, Fla., native was honored with the most prestigious award a UCF student can receive, as he was named to the Order of Pegasus.

Letterwinners who have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters and have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 receive the award. At least one Knight has earned the distinction every year since 2011.
