ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Stephanie Follett has been named the director of basketball operations for the UCF women’s basketball team, head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson announced Thursday morning.
Follett is both a former player and assistant coach under Abrahamson-Henderson. The two have known each other for more than 20 years.
In her role, Follett will handle the day-to-day operations of the program in addition to organizing team travel, summer camps and community relations. She will also serve as a marketing liaison.
“We are so excited and blessed to have Stephanie, her husband, Andy, and her two sons, Drew and Jackson, back in our women’s basketball family! Stephanie has an infectious, positive personality, which our team, coaches and administrators will benefit from daily,” Abrahamson-Henderson said. “Stephanie’s experience and work ethic are unmatched, and she strengthens our coaching staff.”
Follett comes to UCF from Auburn where she worked as the Special Assistant to Tigers head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy from 2012-16.
As the Special Assistant to the Head Coach, Follett handled community relations, personal appearances and speaking engagements for Williams-Flournoy. She also managed Auburn’s women's basketball summer camps and assisted with team academics.
Follett served as an assistant coach on Abrahamson-Henderson’s staff at Missouri State from 2002-07. The pair guided the Bears to three Missouri Valley Conference championships and four post-season appearances, including three trips to the NCAA Tournament and the 2005 WNIT Championship.
Prior to her time at Missouri State, Follett spent two years at Brewster (N.Y.) High School in a variety of positions, including assistant varsity basketball coach and junior varsity head coach. Following her time with the Bears, she returned to the teaching profession in North Carolina.
A native of Stormville, N.Y., Follett is a 1996 graduate of the University of Maine, earning a degree in elementary education. It was at Maine that she first crossed paths with Coach Abe, who served as Follett’s position coach from 1992-94.
Follett was a four-year letterwinner for the Black Bears from 1992-96, making the North Atlantic Conference All-Rookie Team as a freshman and was an NAC All-Conference pick as a sophomore and senior.
Follett led the team to two NCAA Tournament appearances as a junior and a senior. She also became the seventh player in Maine history to reach 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds. Following her collegiate playing career, she was a member of the People-to-People All-Star Team in Belgium.
Follett was married in July 2007 to her husband, Andy, a former assistant football coach at Missouri State, Western Carolina and Alabama State. The couple have two sons: Drew and Jackson.
