ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- UCF set a school record with 23,147 fans at its annual spring game on April 16. With all of the spring contests now wrapped up across the nation, the 23,147 fans marked the 22nd highest spring game attendance in the country in 2016.
According to research provided by NBC Sports' Kevin McGuire, UCF's attendance led all Group of Five schools as well as independents (except Notre Dame). After BYU which had 18,000 for its game, UCF more than doubled every other Group of Five and independent program.
Among Power Five conferences, UCF's attendance would have ranked fourth in the ACC, second in the Big 12, sixth in the Big Ten, second in the Pac-12 and 11th in the SEC (some FBS schools did not report an attendance figure).
First-year head coach Scott Frost and UCF have entered the offseason, starting the important task of conditioning drills and workouts to get ready for the 2016 campaign. The Knights will be back on the practice field in early August.
