May 9, 2016

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF head men’s basketball coach Johnny Dawkins has announced the addition of Drexel transfer Terrell Allen. The Upper Marlboro, Maryland, native will sit out the 2016-17 season per NCAA transfer rules and have three years of eligibility remaining, starting in the 2017-18 season.

“Terrell will be a good addition to our program both on and off the court,” said Dawkins. “He’s a proven leader and a skilled point guard. His ability to score yet still make his teammates better will benefit our program for years to come.”

The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 9.8 points, 3.5 assists and three rebounds during his freshman campaign with the Dragons. Allen started 29-of-31 games and led the program in assists (107), steals (48) and minutes played (1,021). He also shot 40.7 percent from the field and a team-high 83.8 percent from the charity stripe. He reached double-digit scoring 14 times and dished out at least four assists in 14 games.

Per NCAA transfer rules, Allen will be permitted to practice and work out with the Knights when he begins taking classes at UCF. However, he will not be eligible to participate in games or travel with the team during the upcoming 2016-17 season. Allen will have three seasons of eligibility remaining, starting in the 2017-18 season.

Allen was a four-time letterwinner at DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland, where he was tabbed a Second Team All-Conference player and an All-Gazette Second Team selection as a senior.

His father, LeRoy, played basketball at Hofstra and ranks 11th on the Pride’s career scoring list with 1,435 points.

AMMERMAN NAMED VIDEO COORDINATOR
Dawkins also announced the hiring of Jaycob Ammerman as Video Coordinator. Ammerman spent the last two season at UCF as a graduate assistant, where his primary role was film breakdown and analysis.

The New Castle, Indiana, received his undergraduate degree from Flagler in 2013 in Sports Management while also serving as a team manager for the men’s basketball program for four seasons. Following graduation, he spent one season as an assistant coach at Flagler under UCF’s all-time leading scorer Bo Clark.
