Stephanie Best - Softball - 2002-05

Stephanie BestBest helped start the UCF softball program in 2002, guiding the Knights to a 46-19 record in their first year of existence. She went on to become one of the greatest UCF student-athletes of all-time.

A 2005 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee, Best was a three-time A-Sun Player of the Year in her career. She went on to hold the all-time career records in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, games played, runs, hits, home runs, RBI, total bases, walks and assists in Black and Gold.

Best was named to the 2003 NFCA All-Region First Team and on the Second Team in 2004 and 2005. She also served as a three-time member of the All-Atlantic Sun First Team, and was on the Second Team as a freshman. Twice honored with spots on the A-Sun All-Tournament Team, Best received seven conference player of the week awards.

Academically, she was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team in 2003 and 2004, and the Second Team in 2005. Best napped spots on the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team all four years as well.

From 2002-05, the Knights were a combined 172-100-1 overall and 54-24 in league play, winning the A-Sun tournament in 2005. UCF reached its first NCAA Tournament in program history in 2005, and recorded its first NCAA win when it eliminated Florida as Best went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, 2 runs, a double and a triple.
