Sean Beckton - Football (1987-90) - Class of 2000

Sean Beckton joined fellow inductee Bill Giovanetti as the first football players to be inducted into the UCF Athletics Hall of Fame. Beckton was a standout wide receiver for UCF from 1987-90, setting numerous school records.

Most notably during Beckton's playing career was UCF's march to the NCAA Division II semifinals in 1987 and the semifinals of the I-AA playoffs in 1990.

Beckton finished his UCF career as the school's leader in receptions with 196 and career yardage with 2,493. Beckton once scored four touchdowns, four different ways in one game in 1990, catching, throwing, running and returning a punt.

Beckton would spend the 1992 season as a graduate assistant coach for the Knights on Gene McDowell's staff. He would later get a full-time position under Mike Kruzcek. He also worked under George O'Leary and Scott Frost, coaching for three different UCF head coaches.

Beckton began his coaching career at UCF as a graduate assistant for the 1992-1993 seasons, serving as tight ends coach. At the conclusion of the 1993 season Beckton moved on to Mainland High School in Daytona Beach where he was an assistant football coach and history teacher. This would lead him back to UCF were he worked with the wide receivers starting with the 1996 season. During his time with UCF Beckton helped produce some of the best wide receivers in the country, including a four-year run where he had a receiver ranked in the top 6 in the nation for receptions in a game each year.

Speaking of UCF wide receivers, Beckton will be reunited with a couple of his most successful in Jimmy Fryzel and T. T. Toliver.

Beckton is a proven winner and looks to bring his enthusiasm to Jay Gruden's already strong coaching staff. The former Chicago Bear and Cincinnati Bengal has the experience and desire needed to bring an ArenaBowl Championship to the loyal Predator fans.

Beckton graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1993 with a degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in Physical Education. Along with his football accomplishments, he has also served as Physical Education Department Chair for Mainland High School in Daytona Beach.

Beckton resides in the Central Florida area with his wife Zorana and two children Sean Jr., and Zaria.
