ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF Associate Director of Athletic Communications Jenna Marina has been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as a national winner in the annual Fred Stabley Jr. Writing Contest .

Marina's winning entry in the General category was titled "Fortunate Son. The story detailed UCF baseball player Sam Bates, who gave up a guaranteed spot on an NCAA Division II squad to walk on with UCF, so he could be near his mother in Oviedo as she went through chemotherapy and radiation treatments for breast cancer. Bates' story was also a part of UCF's Everyday Champions series.

One of seven national winners this year, Marina is no stranger to CoSIDA's top honors. She was previously recognized in 2014 when her Everyday Champions feature about Megan Fish was named the National Story of the Year. "Fortunate Son" was one of Marina's two entries to earn district honors this season. "Boom! Drop the Bike" was a District 3 winner in the Event category.
