Bright House Networks Stadium - Heat-Related Illness Guide

HEAT-RELATED ILLNESS GUIDE

While on campus for a football game or other outdoor event, fans should take precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses. Fans with cardiac, respiratory or gastrointestinal problems are at higher risk for heat-related illnesses.

As the body temperature rises in the heat, you will generally lose significant amounts of body fluids. Therefore, you should drink plenty of water or sports drinks, and limit alcohol consumption, to ensure that you are replacing essential fluids lost due to the heat.

Fans also should wear sunscreen, a hat and loose-fitting clothes.

If you become hot, sweaty, fatigued or thirsty, you should get out of the sun immediately and begin to drink water to replenish the fluids that you have lost. If these symptoms continue, or you develop dizziness or muscle cramps, you should go to an aid station for further evaluation and treatment. Aid stations are located on the main concourse near Gate 10 and Gate 18, and the American Red Cross will set up additional aid stations on Memory Mall.

Other medical problems may occur before or during a game. Should you become ill and feel the need for medical attention during a game, event staff or security personnel can direct you to find the nearest aid station, or they can summon emergency medical personnel to help you. If you have significant medical problems, please bring a list of your medications with you to the game in case you need medical attention in an aid station.
