Kime is averaging 8.3 strikeouts per game and has had 10 games in 2008 in which she has recorded 10 strikeouts or more, which includes seven 10+ strikeout performances in her last eight starts. Her 15 strikeouts in seven innings vs. Vermont and again at UTEP, was a career-high for seven innings of work. Kime has 18 appearances this season in which she has not allowed an earned run, including a stretch where she did not allow an earned run in 29.0-consecutive innings pitched. Kime has posted wins this season against No. 9 Houston and Long Beach State. She broke the C-USA record for innings pitched in a game, throwing all 15 innings against league-foe East Carolina on March 8. Kime currently ranks in a tie for 10th in the nation in victories and 22nd in ERA, while holding down the 45th spot in Ks per game.
Breaking Records Like Its Her Job
Allison Kime holds almost every program pitching record at UCF and clinched another in the series finale with Memphis on Sunday. After fanning 23 batters over the weekend, Kime broke her single-season strikeout record of 266 Ks from 2007, totaling 270 this season. Her 2007 mark broke her previous single-season strikeout record of 222 in 2006. Kime also moved up to No. 5 on the Conference USA all-time strikeout register, while distancing herself from the pack at the top spot on the UCF career record charts.
Her 8.3 strikeouts per seven innings this season also rank first in UCF single-season history, an improvement of 1.31 whiffs from her 6.99 strikeouts per seven innings at the conclusion of last season.
Pull Off the Upset
Allison Kime went a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI to lead the UCF softball team to a 6-4 upset over No. 9 Houston at the UCF Softball Complex on April 6. The senior also picked up the win in the circle for the Knights, allowing three earned runs on eight hits, while striking out five in six innings of relief. The win snapped the Cougars' seven-game winning streak and was the first all-time against Houston.
Javier, Kime Named to Preseason Squad
Junior Breanne Javier (Castaic, Calif.) and senior Allison Kime (Brandon, Fla.) earned Preseason All-C-USA honors, making UCF one of four teams to have two players named to the team.
Javier, a 2007 All-C-USA First Team pick, led the league in chances (551), putouts (518) and fielding double plays (18) last season, all of which are UCF single-season records. The first baseman ranked second on the team in batting average (.326), slugging percentage (.411), hits (62), RBI (25) and doubles (11).
A 2007 All-Southeast Region and C-USA first-team selection, Kime had the fourth-best ERA in the country at the conclusion of last year with a 0.87 mark through 40 appearances and 266.1 innings pitched. Her ERA also set a UCF single-season record, along with setting individual-season records for lowest opponent batting average (.159), most strikeouts per seven innings (6.99), most shutouts (15) and most strikeouts (266).
If You Don't Know Me By Now
Senior hurler Allison Kime pitched all 15 innings of the Knights' 6-2 loss to East Carolina March 8, setting a new Conference USA record for innings pitched in a game. The most frames pitched prior to the 15-inning marathon were in 2000, when Southern Miss' Courtney Blades threw 13 innings against LSU. The game also tied the C-USA record for the most innings played overall all-time and all-time for a conference game, while Kime also captured the record for most innings pitched in a C-USA league game.
Simply the Best
UCF has four different players rank in the NCAA Top 30 in various categories this week, with Allison Kime and Tiffany Lane posting two and Breanne Javier and Ashleigh Cole recording one apiece. Kime ranks 10th in the nation with 24 victories in the circle and 22nd with a 1.08 ERA this season, while Lane ranks 10th with five triples and 23rd in triples per game. Javier ranks in at No. 22 in the 'Toughest to Strikeout' category and Cole's 1.22 walks allowed per seven innings is a mark that ranks 27th in the country. Kime and Marquita Council also posted top-50 marks, with Kime ranking in at No. 45 with 8.3 strikeouts per game and Council took the No. 42 spot with 0.21 sacrifice hits per game.
You Can't Touch This
Kime's 15 strikeouts against UTEP on Sunday were the second-most in a Conference USA game all-time, with Southern Miss' Courtney Blades holding the all-time mark with a 21-strikeout performance against LSU in 2000.
The 15 Ks also tied the UCF single-game record for strikeouts in a seven-inning game, a mark Kime set earlier in the season against Vermont.
Getting Things Done on Both Sides of the Field
The Knights hold a 17-2 record this season when Allison Kime bats in the sixth spot in the lineup.The senior is batting .373 from the spot with 19 hits, four doubles, a home run, 10 RBI and nine runs scored. When the starting pitcher, Kime is batting .329 with 24 hits, six doubles, 15 RBI and 10 runs scored.
Holding Her Own
Allison Kime ranks in the top-two in five different Conference USA pitching categories going into this weekend's contest with Stetson. The senior holds the top spot in strikeouts with 270, which is 66 more than her closest competitor, while ranking second in ERA, innings pitched, wins, appearances and games started.
