SACRAMENTO, Calif. (UCFKnights.com) - As the UCF rowing team takes to the water at the 2016 NCAA Rowing Championships this weekend, the Knights will follow a season-long ritual.
You can see that the team knows they are representing more than themselves," head coach Becky Cramer said. "They have overcome adversity and persevered because they get the opportunity to represent UCF Rowing on the biggest stage. They realize that this is a privilege that comes from the hard work of those before them, and they want to make their alumni proud."
The Black and Gold are celebrating 20 seasons as a Division I program in 2016. Each time the Knights raced this season, they dedicated it to the ladies that came before them.
UCF will continue the tradition again this weekend, as they line up for one last event on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
The Varsity Eight takes to the water first, racing in the third heat at 9:24 a.m. PT. The Knights line up with defending national champion Ohio State, along with Brown, Wisconsin, Duke and Jacksonville.
The Second Varsity Eight races in the fourth heat at 10:24 a.m. PT. The Knights are in a heat with Washington, Virginia, Washington State, Indiana and Rhode Island.
The Varsity Four races in the fourth heat at 11:12 a.m. PT. The Knights line up with Washington, Ohio State, Duke, USC and Rhode Island.
UCF races over three days at the Sacramento Aquatic Center. Daily results will be posted on NCAA.com. A live webcast will also be available during each day of competition.
