TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (UCFKnights.com) -- Sophomore Manuel Elvira carded a +1 73 in Wednesday's third and final round at the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional. He was 4-over for the tournament and finished tied for 25th at the Ol' Colony Golf Course.
Elvira opened his round on the 10th hole and immediately carded a bogey. But he responded on the 12th with a birdie 2 on the Par 3 hole. Bogeys on Nos. 14 and 16 pushed him to +2. But a birdie on the Par 4 18th left him 1-over after nine holes.
The Spaniard heated up after the turn. He tallied birdies on the Par 4 1st and Par 5 3rd holes to move to 1-under for the day. But a bogey on No. 4 and a bogey to finish on No. 9 pushed his final round score to a 1-over 73.
Elvira carded rounds of 73, 74 and 73 to account for his +4 finish. It was his first experience in an NCAA Regional Championship and it was the last golf action of the season for the Knights.
