Tennessee Invitational results
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF rowing team posted some of its best times of the season at the Tennessee Invitational on Melton Hill Lake on Sunday morning.
Two of UCF's boats, the Second Varsity Eight, and the Third Varsity Eight, posted season-best times. A third boat, the Varsity Four, was 0.5 seconds off its season-best time.
The Varsity Eight, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Ashleigh Boyd, Lauren Aiello, Viktorija Senkute, Ivana Krkljus, Zana Krakic, Marija Medelinskaite, Olivia Staples and Alison Ponce, opened the day with a second-place finish for the Knights. The squad came in just behind an Iowa squad that is ranked 19th in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches poll with a time of 6:36.7.
The Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Catherine Harms, Edvina Nesukaityte, Jasmine Blais, Rachael Klunder, Sarah Gordon, Dani Burton, Lauren Wasko, Danielle Taylor and Julia Chase, posted its fastest time of the season, crossing the line in 6:47.7. The Knights finished just behind Iowa and Tennessee for third place in the event.
The Third Varsity Eight, consisting of Ashley Martin, Jazmin Sepulveda, Catherine Johnston, Sydney Hays, Paula Parks, Vitoria Artmann, Christine Bralich, Allie Gordon and Abigail Rose, posted a season-best time of 7:07.8. The squad crossed the line for a third-place finish.
The Varsity Four, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Anna Mahoney, Leonie Hamel, Grace Lindberg and Rachel Rabinowitz, nearly topped its season-best time. The boat's third-place time of 7:368 was just 0.5 seconds off its season-high, which came on March 5 at the Metro Cup.
In the Second Varsity Four closed the day with a fourth place finish. The squad, consisting of Erica Jimenez, Aly Derksen, Erin Corrigan, Andrea Hebditch and Brianne Addison, posted a time of 7:58.8 to come in just behind Tennessee.
The Knights return to action on May 14 in Sacramento, Calif. UCF looks to defend its American Athletic Conference title at the 2016 championship at Sacramento State Aquatic Center.
