Leadership To Change

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) - UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Danny White has announced that head men's tennis coach Bobby Cashman has stepped down, effective immediately.

Coach Cashman has been dedicated to the development of his student-athletes, White said. We appreciate the hard work Bobby has put in at UCF. Moving forward, from a competitive standpoint, we expect to contend for and win American Athletic Conference championships.

The Knights finished with a 9-13 overall record this season, bowing out of the American Athletic Conference Championship after a first-round loss to No. 27 SMU last week.

Cashman compiled a 212-164 record in 17 seasons at the helm of the Knights. He led the program to three Atlantic Sun Conference championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances (2003, 2004, 2005) and was named the A-Sun Conference Coach of the Year in 2005.

I would like to thank Steve Sloan, the former Athletic Director who gave me a chance to be a head coach at UCF several years ago, along with Dr. Hitt, Cashman said. I also want to thank the other Athletic Directors - Steve Orsini, Keith Tribble and Todd Stansbury - who led the athletic department during my tenure. I appreciate the opportunity to have worked with such a great support staff and tremendous student-athletes. I wish nothing but the best for Danny White and his staff to identify the next head men's tennis coach here at UCF. Charge On! Go Knights!

A national search for the Knights' next head coach will begin immediately.

Beginning this fall, the new 100-court United States Tennis Association National Campus at Lake Nona will be the new home for the UCF Tennis programs. Both the men's and women's programs will play home matches at the facility in the spring of 2017.
