Sprinting to the Finish

The UCF track & field program closed out a busy weekend on Saturday, recording 14 top-eight finishes at the Jesse Owens Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, and the Triton Invitational in San Diego, California.

SPRINTING TO THE FINISH
The Knights' sprint group made a splash, grabbing seven top-eight finishes in 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and earning a runner-up finish in the 4x100-meter relay.

J'Nea Bellamy scored UCF's lone event title, winning the 100m with a wind-aided time of 11.45. Alissa Williams snatched the runner-up finish at 11.51 with SheKara Martin finishing fourth and Briana Vaughn taking seventh.

In the 200m, Ashely Jocelyn, Martin and Christal Peterson finished third through fifth. Jocelyn clocked in at 23.80, while Martin and Peterson were just over 24 seconds, respectively.

The quartet of Peterson, Bellamy, Martin and Vaughn came in second in the 4x100m, running 45.45 just half of a second behind Ohio State.

CHAMBERLAIN IN THE 800
Rosie Chamberlain finished third in the 800-meter run at the Jesse Owens Invitational, clocking a time of 2:06.83. It is the third fastest time she has run this season, and the sophomore still ranks top 20 in the nation.

TRITON INVITATIONAL
Jhane' Carter took second in the shot put, throwing the implement 49-9.75/15.17m to improve her UCF freshman record. She is now less than a meter off LaKendra Thames' school record of 51-4.25/15.65m set in 2010.
