MIAMI, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF rowing team swept all four events against Miami on Indian Creek on Saturday morning.
The Knights lined up against the Hurricane in a dual contest at the Shane Watersports Center.
The Varsity Eight, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Ashleigh Boyd, Lauren Aiello, Viktorija Senkute, Ivana Krkljus, Zana Krakic, Marija Medelinskaite, Olivia Staples and Alison Ponce, opened the day with a win for the Knights. The squad edged Miami's 1V8 on the 2000-meter course with a time of 6:29.3.
The Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Catherine Harms, Edvina Nesukaityte, Jasmine Blais, Rachael Klunder, Sarah Gordon, Dani Burton, Lauren Wasko, Danielle Taylor and Julia Chase, kept the streak going for the Black and Gold in the second race of the day. The boat posted an open-water win over Miami's 2V8 with a time of 6:50.1.
The Varsity Four, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Anna Mahoney, Leonie Hamel, Grace Lindberg and Rachel Rabinowitz, collected UCF's third win of the day. The boat posted a winning time of 7:36.96.
In the Second Varsity Four event, the Knights raced a pair of boats against the Hurricane. The "A" boat, consisting of Ashley Martin, Aly Derksen, Erin Corrigan, Andrea Hebditch and Catherine Johnston, won the race with a time of 7:54.7.
The 2V4+ "B" squad, consisting of Erica Jimenez, Jazmin Sepulveda, Paula Parks, Vitoria Artmann and Laney Palmquist, finished second in the event, giving UCF the top two times. The boat crossed ahead of Miami with a time of 8:01.4.
The Knights closed out the day by racing a 4V4+ boat and 5V4+ boat in a separate event. The 4V4+ boat, consisting of Jillian Jernas, Allie Gordon, Christine Bralich, Sydney Hays and Amy Compare, crossed the line in 8:14.5. The 5V4+ squad, consisting of Melissa Hebel, Abigail Rose, Camila Velez, Emily Alvarez and Danielle De La Pascua, finished with a time of 8:21.8.
The Knights return to action next weekend, racing at the Tennessee Invite in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
