ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF's Everyday Champion student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom. UCF has a department-wide, four-year average APR of 979. A perfect APR score is 1000.
Wednesday's release of APR information by the NCAA includes data through the 2014-15 academic year. The APR provides a "snapshot" look at a team's academic success on a yearly basis. The APR score takes into account graduation, retention and eligibility to determine a clear picture of the current academic culture of a program.
The NCAA uses multi-year averages to track a program's academic progress. The multi-year rate includes the previous four years' worth of data. The NCAA began compiling APR information in 2004.
Two Knights' programs have achieved a perfect 1000 multi-year score. Head coach Todd Dagenais' volleyball program and the women's tennis team, led by Stephanie Nickitas, both have perfect scores of 1000. It's the fifth straight perfect score for women's tennis and the fourth consecutive 1000 for volleyball.
In addition to the perfect multi-year scores, the Knights earned single-year perfect scores for 2014-15 in five sports - men's golf, men's tennis, women's basketball, women's tennis and volleyball.
Meanwhile, the UCF football program continues to prove it is among the elite in the classroom. The Knights tops in The American for APR with a score of 983. The Knights rank sixth among all public FBS institutions, 11th among all Football Bowl Subdivision institutions and 27th in all of NCAA Division I (FBS and FCS).
The following is a look at the APR score of each sport at UCF:
Baseball - 969
