ORLANDO, Fla. - UCF track & field ran away with a dual-meet victory over Illinois Saturday afternoon, 326-158. The Knights had solid day all around, grabbing 13-of-19 first place finishes.

SPRINTING TO THE FINISH
The Black & Gold grabbed big points in the sprints, finishing one-two in the 100, 200 and 400. J'Nea Bellamy earned the 100m victory, while Briana Vaughn took first in the 200m. SheKara Martin provided great support, finishing second in both of those races. Ashley Jocelyn won the 400-meter dash with Christal Peterson taking second.
GOING THE DISTANCE
UCF also swept the middle and distance race titles. Tere Cooley took the 800m crown with a personal record of 2:11.69, while Rosie Chamberlain held off a pair of Illini in her first career 1,500-meter run. Anne-Marie Blaney breezed her way to nearly a one-minute win in the 5,000m.
PASSING THE BATON
The Knights' 4x100m and 4x400m relays broke the tape as well. The quartet of Jocelyn, Bellamy, Alissa Williams and Vaughn clocked a time of 44.97 in the 4x100m, while the foursome of Peterson, Jocelyn, Cooley and Chamberlain capped off the meet with a 4x400m time of 3:48.31.
SWEEPING THE THROWS
The Black & Gold earned big points in the throws, sweeping all four events with four different competitors. Freshman Jhane' Carter grabbed the shot put title, while fellow classmate Precious Williams won the javelin. Senior Kalen Hambrick led UCF's hammer throwers, and Tayla Greene took the discus crown.
NEXT UP
The Knights will take a week off before splitting in to four squads the following week. From April 21-23, UCF will send student-athletes to the Olympic Training Center Meet in Chula Vista, California., Jesse Owens Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, Tom Jones Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, and Triton Invitational in San Diego, California.
