UCF track & field beat the rainy weather Friday afternoon, opening the UCF Invitational with a pair of field events. The Knights took first in both the javelin and hammer throw while also recording five personal-best performances.

Chelsea Gobourne won the hammer throw for the second consecutive weekend, throwing the implement 191-0/58.23m. Last weekend, junior transfer set a new UCF record in her first meet for the Knights. Kalen Hambrick took second with a toss of 188-2/57.35m.

In the javelin, Precious Williams snatched first place, recording a career-best mark of 128-10/39.28m.

Day two of the UCF Invitational begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the discus. Additional field events will follow before running events start at 1 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relay.
