Despite only holding just two events on Day One of the Black & Gold Challenge, the UCF track & field program made some noise with Chelsea Gobourne winning the hammer throw and breaking the Knights' school record.

Gobourne, who is a junior transfer from Florida International, made a big impression in her first meet with the Knights, breaking a 10-year old record in the hammer throw. The new Knight hurled the hammer 197-6/60.20m on her final throw of the day, defeating teammate Kalen Hambrick, who finished second with a personal record of 189-7/57.79m. Gobourne's new school record tops Tiffany Roebuck's previous record of 192-3/58.89m set in 2006.
UCF also received top eight finishes from freshman Jhane' Carter in the hammer, who earned seventh, and Precious Williams in the javelin, who took fourth overall.
DAY TWO
The Knights return to action at the Black & Gold Challenge at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the discus throw. Running events are slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. with the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
