Final Stats
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF softball team closed out a 15-game home stand on a high note. The Knights used a seventh-inning rally to earn a 2-1 walk-off win over New Mexico State on Wednesday afternoon at the UCF Softball Complex.
"Hitting is contagious," head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie said. "When you start seeing them hit and you start seeing action on the bases, everybody gets excited and everybody joins in. That's kind of what you saw with Jasmine getting the tying run in and then Willow coming up with that big chopper to be able to score her. That was huge. We've got to have more games like that."
UCF improved to 21-10 and swept the two-game series with the Aggies. Junior Willow Kalinen went 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in the game-winning run.
Awesome Acevedo
? Redshirt junior Jasmine Acevedo tied the game at 1-1 with one out in the bottom of the seventh with a standing triple.
? The Largo, Fla., native's third triple of the season scored freshman pinch runner Tiffany Lower, bringing Acevedo's RBI total to 12 on the season.
? Acevedo scored the game-winning run for the Knights, sliding under the tag at home to give UCF the walk-off victory and sweep of New Mexico State.
Saving It For The Seventh
? Junior Linnea Goodman led off with a single to left field for the Knights in the bottom of the first, but UCF was held without another hit until the fifth inning. A double from senior Kalyn Cenal and a single from Kalinen put runners on the corners, but the pair were left stranded at the end of the inning.
? The Aggies struck first in the top of the seventh, scoring on an RBI single from Kelsey Horton. NMSU led 1-0 heading to the bottom of the frame.
? After Acevedo's triple tied the game, Kalinen gave UCF its second walk-off win in the last eight days.
