OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The UCF rowing team closed out the Cardinal Invite with a second-place finish by its Second Varsity Four on Melton Lake on Sunday. The Knights collected five third-place finishes on the final day of the event.
The Varsity Eight squad, consisting of Catherine Harms, Lauren Aiello, Edvina Nesukaityte, Viktorija Senkute, Ashleigh Boyd, Marija Medelinskaite, Olivia Staples, Julia Chase and Rachael Klunder, opened the day for the Knights. UCF posted a 6:46.12 time to finish third in the event.
The Varsity Four boat, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Lauren Wasko, Grace Lindberg, Rachel Rabinowitz and Danielle Taylor, finished third in the second event of the day. The Knights posted a time of 7:58.12.
The Novice Eight boat, consisting of Ashley Martin, Camila Velez, Laney Palmquist, Jazmin Sepulveda, Kathleen Kuesters, Elizabeth Guzman, Emily Alvarez, Danielle De La Pascua and Christine Bralich, raced a pair of Michigan State boats. The Knights posted a third-place time of 7:41.54.
UCF's Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Aly Derksen, Jasmine Blais, Paula Parks, Sarah Gordon, Anna Mahoney, Erin Corrigan, Dani Burton and Leonie Hamel, posted UCF's fourth third-place finish of the day. The Knights' time of 7:07.31 was an open water finish ahead of fourth-place West Virginia.
The Second Varsity Four boat, consisting of Jillian Jernas, Shannon Perry, Sydney Hays, Catherine Johnston and Vitoria Artmann, collected UCF's second-place finish of the day. UCF's time of 8:11.68 was nearly seven seconds ahead of third-place Michigan State.
The Third Varsity Four boat, consisting of Erica Jimenez, Brianne Addison, Allie Gordon, Amy Compare and Andrea Hebditch, closed the weekend for the Knights. The squad took third place with a time of 8:21.93.
The Knights return to Lake Pickett to host UConn in an American Athletic Conference race on March 18.
