OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The UCF rowing team took to the water for a morning and afternoon session on the first day of the Cardinal Invite on Melton Lake on Saturday.

The Varsity Four C boat, consisting of Erica Jiminez, Brianne Addison, Allie Gordon, Amy Compare and Andrea Hebditch, started off both sessions for the Knights. The squad posted a pair of second-place finishes in both outings.

The Varsity Eight squad, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Lauren Aiello, Edvina Nesukaityte, Viktorija Senkute, Ashleigh Boyd, Marija Medelinskaite, Olivia Staples, Julia Chase and Rachael Klunder, took to the water next. After edging Clemson for third place in the morning session, the Knights held off West Virginia for third place in the afternoon session.

The Varsity Four A boat, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Lauren Wasko, Grace Lindberg, Rachel Rabinowitz and Vitoria Artmann, placed fourth in the morning session. In the afternoon race, the squad bested West Virginia for a third place finish.

The Novice Eight boat, consisting of Ashley Martin, Camila Velez, Laney Palmquist, Sydney Hays, Kathleen Kuesters, Elizabeth Guzman, Emily Alvarez, Danielle De La Pascua and Christine Bralich, posted a pair of third place finishes on the opening day.

UCF's Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Catherine Harms, Aly Derksen, Jasmine Blais, Dani Burton, Sarah Gordon, Anna Mahoney, Erin Corrigan, Danielle Taylor and Leonie Hamel, improved in the afternoon session after finishing fourth in the morning session. The Knights shaved nearly 10 seconds of their time for a third place finish in the afternoon, with Olivia Hecimovich switching with Harms as the coxswain.

The Varsity Four B boat, consisting of Catherine Johnston, Jazmin Sepulveda, Shannon Perry and Danielle Taylor, closed out both session for the Knights. Dropping their time by 17 seconds, the squad finished in third place in the afternoon.

The Knights are back in action for a morning session on Lake Melton on Sunday. UCF returns to Lake Pickett to host UConn on March 18.
