ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - A bases-loaded RBI single from senior Samantha McCloskey gave No. 25 UCF Softball its second consecutive run-rule win at the UCF Softball Complex. The Knights topped FGCU 8-0 in six innings on Thursday evening.

"I saw the team being relaxed and going to work," head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie said. "We basically went through the lineup with seven runs in the very first inning. It's great for the pitchers, because they can relax and pitch their game."

UCF (16-8) extended its winning streak to 12, and run-ruled their fourth opponent of the season.

Samantha McCloskey, sophomore Courtney Rotton and redshirt junior Jasmine Acevedo each had two hits for the Knights. Senior Jamie Ujvari earned her fifth win of the season, tying her UCF career-high with nine strikeouts in four innings of work.

Full First Inning
? After keeping FGCU off the scoreboard in the top of the first inning, the Knights struck first in the bottom of the frame.
? The first four UCF batters reached, and senior Jessica Ujvari drove in a pair of runs with a double to give the Knights a 2-0 lead.
? Leading 3-0 with two outs in the inning, back-to-back hits from senior Kalyn Cenal and Jasmine Acevedo extended the lead and put a pair of runners on base. A throwing error allowed a fifth run two score, and a single up the middle from junior Linnea Goodman gave the Black and Gold a 7-0 advantage.
? Eight players reached base in the inning, and the Knights scored seven runs on five hits in the first at-bat.

Scoring In The Sixth
? The Knights headed to the bottom of the sixth inning with a 7-0 lead over the Eagles.
? With one out in the frame, junior Brittany Solis took her base after being hit by a pitch. A double from Courtney Rotton put runners on second and third for Je. Ujvari, who was intentionally walked to load the bases.
? For the second time in as many days, Samantha McCloskey delivered the game-ending hit, as her shot to the shortstop allowed senior pinch runner Kirsten Foster to score and seal the 8-0 win.
