ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's golf team finished ninth at the Suntrust Gator Women's Invite this weekend. Junior Ayaka Nakayama led the Knights from the start, as she earned her first top-20 finish of the year.
Nakayama was solid all weekend ultimately carding scores of 72-76-73=221 (+11). She advanced six spots on the individual leaderboard in the final round to finish tied for 19th.
Fellow junior Ashley Holder also finished strong, rising 10 spots on Sunday. Holder turned in rounds of 75-76-74=225 (+15). Senior Mary Mulcahy finished with a 226 (77-73-76, +16) while junior Johanna Larsson shot a 232 (83-75-74, +22) and freshman Dree Fausnaugh turned in a 239 (74-80-85, +29).
Freshman Erica Stoner competed as an individual finished with a 246 (84-74-88, +36).
Tournament host Florida held on to win by an 11-shot margin while Florida State finished second beating Ohio State by three shots. Oregon was fourth and North Carolina State was fifth.
The Knights will be back in action on April 1-3 for the Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C.
