ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF tallied its first American Athletic Conference victory of the season Friday with a 4-3 win over UConn. Senior Caroline Eberhart recorded a 7-5, 7-5 triumph at No. 2 singles to lift the Knights at the UCF Tennis Complex.

The Knights moved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in The American, while UConn fell to 4-5 on the year and 0-3 in league contests.
After the Huskies took the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3, the Knights responded quickly as sophomore Cortney Cesarini delivered a 6-1, 6-1 victory to knot the match at one-all.
A straight set 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 by freshman Natalia Serrano put the Knights up 2-1. Sophomore Monica Matias cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4.
Following UConn taking No. 3 singles, Eberhart secured the match in favor of the Knights, 4-2. The contest at No. 1 singles was in the third set when the match was clinched, but the teams elected play it out and the Huskies took the point.
Freshman Diana Dehterevich won a pair of tiebreakers to earn a win in an exhibition contest at No. 7. The Minsk, Belarus, native won the first, 7-3, and second, 7-4.
The Knights are back in action on Thursday with a 10 a.m. contest against Samford at the UCF Tennis Complex.
