A solid 3 2/3 innings of work was registered by junior reliever Juan Pimentel. The Miami, Fla., native provided the Knights (6-2) with an opportunity to make a comeback by striking out three and only allowed two bunt singles during his outing.
The Knights' first run in the fourth inning was setup by a double down the left field line by junior shortstop Brennan Bozeman, who scored on the Griffin sac fly. Back-to-back singles by Griffin and senior designated hitter Sam Tolleson opened the sixth frame, which were followed by a wild pitch and sac fly off the bat of Heiser.
Michigan State (6-0) pushed across five runs on a walk and five singles during the third inning and tacked on another run in the fourth. Walter Borkovich (1-0) earned the victory and fanned two batters over five innings, while Brandon Hughes delivered two hits and two RBI.
