ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The Knights remain 16th at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La. despite a strong second round effort. UCF Senior Mary Mulcahy is now among the top 30 players on the individual leaderboard at the English Turn Golf & Country Club.

Mulcahy matched her season-best low-round total of even par and is in position to record her best finish of the season. She tallied five birdies and nine pars on the day moving up three spots into a tie for 28th.

Junior Johanna Larsson also had a big day for the Knights. She shot a 74 (+2), seven strokes better than her opening round score. She notched two birdies and 12 pars including a streak of eight consecutive pars that began on her third hole of the day.

Without top player junior Ashley Holder, UCF head coach Emily Marron knew this tournament would provide a unique challenge for the Knights. She said the team turned its focus inward for this event and saw some positive results.

I'm proud of how the team has played despite the adversity we faced this week, Marron said. We've had some good individual performances and can definitely build on this for the rest of the spring.

Junior Ayaka Nakayama shot 76 (+4) on day two while freshman Dree Fausnaugh carded an 80 (+8) and freshman Erica Stoner shot 82 (+10).

No. 11 Florida (-7) moved up two spots in the team competition taking the outright lead. The Gators had four players shoot second-round scores under par taking a seven shot lead over No. 13 Oklahoma State (E). No. 12 Arizona (+1) is third, No. 7 Alabama (+4) is fourth, and tournament host Tulane (+7) is fifth.
