GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The Knights opened the spring portion of their season tying for 10th place at the SunTrust Gator Invitational. Manuel Elvira led the way for UCF, finishing in a tie for 28th place.
UCF entered Sundsay's third and final round in eighth place, but slipped a couple spots by the end of the tournament. The Knights carded a final round 287 (+7) and finished just one stroke out of ninth behind the University of Missouri.
Elvira played his best round of the tournament Sunday, turning in a 2-under 68. He was even par after nine holes, but scored a pair of birdies coming down the stretch. His three-day total of 212 (+2) landed him in a tie for 28th place.
Donnie Trosper finished 39th at six-over for the tournament. He fired a 1-over 71 Sunday. Juuso Kahlos was +9 and finished tied for 46th. George Williams (+11, T55th) and Thomas Le Berre (+16, 68th) rounded out the team scores for UCF. Andrew Arft took part as an individual for the Knights. He finished 13-over and tied for 62nd.
The Knights play again Friday, when the open play at The Hayt in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
