ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF competed in a friendly against Orlando City B on Sunday afternoon at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights fell in the contest 4-0, but regrouped at halftime and played a strong second half.
"Obviously, it is great to be back playing games," said head coach Bryan Cunningham. "To start the spring by playing a great team in Orlando City B is a great experience for our players. It rewards our guys for all the hard work that they have put in the offseason."
The Knights started slow against OCB and fell behind 3-0 in the first half.
"In the second half, our players took what we talked about at halftime and really applied themselves and became a little more aggressive," Cunningham said. "They started to anticipate things a little bit more instead of being reactive to what the Orlando City B team was doing. In the end, we did create some good scoring opportunities, unfortunately none of them came to fruition."
The Knights have a week of training before going up against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Omni Resort. UCF isn't back at home until Mar. 25 against Stetson at 11 a.m.
