The UCF track & field program kicked off the Music City Challenge on Friday night, earning 11 top-eight finishes, including a pair of event titles.

J'Nea Bellamy and Kalen Hambrick led the Knights on the first day of competition in Nashville, Tennessee, winning one event each. Bellamy snatched first in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 23.88. Hambrick was the top finisher in the weight throw, tossing the weight a new personal best 65-6.75/19.98m, which fell just one and a half inches from matching Destinee Romain's school record of 65-8.25/20.02m.
THROWING THEIR WEIGHT AROUND
UCF made a huge splash in the weight throw, having six Knights finish in the top nine with four posting career-best marks. Hambrick won the event, while Jhane' Carter took second with a new personal best of 61-0/18.59m, which re-broke her own UCF freshman record. Tayla Greene also posted a career-best toss to finish fourth. Tayler McDuffie, Gabby Durant and Tara Daniels rounded out the throwers, taking seventh through ninth, respectively. Durant also tossed a personal best.

The Knights return to action tomorrow morning with the 3,000-meter run at 11 a.m. ET.
