Foul trouble got the Knights (11-12, 5-7 AAC) scrambling in the first half with A.J. Davis being charged with his third personal foul with over eight minutes remaining. Tanksley Efianayi and Shaheed Davis also got into early foul trouble, which forced the already shorthanded Knights to play with a bigger than usual lineup against the quick and agile Cougars (18-7, 8-5 AAC).

In the second half, UCF went scoreless for the first four minutes and 14 seconds before Justin McBride made a layup. By that time, Houston already extended its lead to 20 points and was clicking on all cylinders.

The Black & Gold did make a late charge with Matt Williams catching fire. The redshirt junior, who had been held scoreless up to this point, tallied all 13 of his points in the final six minutes of action.
