Stellar Spring Slate

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF men's soccer head coach Bryan Cunningham has announced the Knights' spring schedule, which features contests against Orlando City, Orlando City B, New York Red Bulls and the United States U17 National Team.

The Knights open the campaign on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Orlando City B, a first-year United Soccer League (USL) team, at the UCF Soccer Complex. UCF then makes a trip to Sylvan Lake Park on Feb. 28 to face a lineup that will include Orlando City reserves and OCB players.

UCF faces a full MLS squad on Feb. 20 with a 10:30 a.m. contest vs. the New York Red Bulls at the Omni Resort in ChampionsGate. The Red Bulls captured the 2015 MLS Supporter's Shields and advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals after going 18-10-6.

Following Orlando City's inaugural season in the MLS, fans in the City Beautiful have become avid soccer supporters. The Lions stayed local in the MLS SuperDraft in January and moved up to select former Knight Hadji Barry with the 13th overall pick. Barry scored 11 goals for UCF in 2015.

UCF has the opportunity to battle Orlando City on Feb. 28. The contest will feature OCSC reserves along with some OCB players since it is the day after the Lions host the Esporte Clube Bahia at the Citrus Bowl.

After almost three weeks of training, the Knights head to Bradenton on March 19 to face the U.S. U17 National Team at 10 a.m. The youth national team will be working out at the Bradenton Training Center.

UCF completes the slate with a pair of home matches against Stetson on March 25 at 11 a.m. and Florida Southern on April 1 at 7 p.m.

The Knights posted a 7-8-2 overall record in 2015 and finished fifth in the American Athletic Conference. UCF returns nine starters from last year and brings back 14 letterwinners.
