From the start, the Knights (10-9, 4-4 AAC) struggled to get things going offensively, making just 1 of their first 12 field goal attempts. The scoring lapse empowered UConn (15-6, 5-3 AAC) to go on a 16-0 run and take a 19-4 lead midway through the half.
UCF's shooting woes continued the remainder of the half, posting a first-half field goal percentage of 24.1 and shooting 18.2 percent from behind the arc.
The Black & Gold trailed by 18 at the break, and it seemed that things were destined to turn around for the Knights in the second half. But that was not the case as UCF as it continued to scrounge for every point.
Junior Matt Williams was the lone Knight to reach double-digit points, tallying 10 for his fourth double figure game in league play.
With under six minutes remaining, UCF had the Huskies' lead under 20 points, but a 12-2 run by UConn sealed the victory.
WILLIAMS IN LEAGUE PLAY
- Williams tallied his eighth double-digit scoring game this season and 16 of his career.
- The junior has scored in double figures four times this season in league games.
- Williams has tallied at least nine points in 6-of-8 conference games.
