ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF women's basketball team made it a game in the second half against Temple on Wednesday but the Knights ran out of time to rally for the win. The Owls snuck away with a 71-63 victory at CFE Arena.

After giving up 50 points in the first half, the Knights (3-13, 0-5 American) dug in and outscored the Owls, 28-21, the rest of the way.
Ignited by a 14-0 run to start the third quarter, the Knights fought their way back from 23 points behind and cut it to a two-possession game, 58-54, with 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
The Knights again cut it to 65-61 with 2:36 remaining but Temple's timely baskets managed to keep the Owls' lead out of reach.
Junior Zykira Lewis led three Knights in double figures with a game-high 16 points. Redshirt junior forward Joslyn Massey contributed with her fourth double-double of the year (13 points, game-high 10 rebounds).
Tale of Two Halves
? Both teams had their shining moments and profited from big-time runs in the game.
? Temple used a 29-6 run spanning nearly eight minutes in the first half. The Knights were held without a field goal for 5:55 during the stretch.
? UCF responded by holding Temple scoreless for more than 9 minutes. The Knights held an opponent to single digits in a quarter (8 -- 3rd quarter) for the first time since Nov. 24 at South Alabama.

? The Knights get a second look at an opponent for the first time this season when they travel to Cincinnati for a Saturday matchup on the American Digital Network.
