Two Knights Win At FGCU Fall Invite

FORT MYERS, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's tennis team collected a pair of singles victories on the opening day of the FGCU Fall Invite.

Freshman Jack Thiessen earned a straight-set victory over Miami's Kevin Bondar in Green Singles action. Thiessen downed Bondar 6-4, 6-1 for his first collegiate straight-set victory.In the White Singles, sophomore Tyler Pate topped Miami's Niclas Genovese, 7-6 (3), 6-4 for UCF's second victory over the Hurricanes.

Sophomore Nico De Fraia and junior Arjun Watane fell in singles action. Thiessen and De Fraia fell in the opening round of Blue Doubles, 8-7, while Pate and Watane came up short in an 8-5 loss in Green Doubles action.

The Knights are back on the courts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday for the second day of the FGCU Fall Invite at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

Oliver Landert/Lucas Vaz (FGCU) def. Nico De Fraia/Jack Thiessen (UCF), 8-7

Green Doubles
Niles Clark/Kevin Bondar (Miami) def. Tyler Pate/Arjun Watane (UCF), 8-5
