Juuso Kahlos

VALENTINE, Neb. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's golf team is in 10th place at the Jackrabbit Invitiational, being played at the Prairie Club Dunes Course.

Sophomore Juuso Kahlos led the way for the Knights. He was 3-over for the day and is tied for 15th. Kahlos was 1-under through the front nine. But the back nine was difficult for all the Knights and Kahlos was no different, carding five bogeys after the turn.

Freshman Donnie Trosper and junior Ryan Stovash each turned in scorecards with a score of 77 (+5). Stovash struggled on the front nine with four bogeys, but was just 1-over on the back nine. Trosper alternated three birdies and three bogeys on the front nine, but eventually gave five strokes to the course on the back. Trosper and Stovash are tied for 31st.

Junior George Williams turned in the final score that counted for the team Saturday. He scored a 78 (+6) adn is tied for 39th. Sophomore Manuel Elvira rounded out the lineup. He was 7-over with a 79 and is tied for 45th.

As a team, the Knights were 19-over for the first round. They are just one stroke behind Connecticut in ninth. UCF is just six strokes out of fifth place. Michigan State leads the tournament at +2, while host school South Dakota State, USF and Oregon are tied for second at +7.
