ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- All it took to start off conference play 1-0 was a 1-0 win by the UCF women's soccer team over Temple on Thursday evening.

The Knights (6-2-1) dominated possession for much of the first half but couldn't break through until sophomore Kayla Adamek put away her third goal of the year just before halftime.

Adamek intercepted a missed clearance at the top of the box and volleyed it to the back of the net for her first goal since UCF's first win of the year against Jacksonville.

"Finally," Adamek said with a laugh after the game. "I'm really proud of the team. We've come a long way since preseason. It's great to get the first win. I think it's huge because we want to be undefeated and that's a great way to start."

UCF improved its record to 4-0 in the series against Temple and maintained its current unbeaten streak in league play at home. The Knights are currently 14-0-2 at the UCF Soccer Complex since dropping their last league home match in 2012.

Clean Sheet
? The Knights have been hunting for a shutout at home and got one on Thursday, limiting the Owls to just one shot on goal.
? The 1-0 result marked the third clean sheet of the year and the first at home since the home opener on Aug. 23.
? Freshman goalkeeper Vera Varis picked up her second career shutout in the process.
? "Temple has a strong squad this year and they really pressed us in the second half. At the end of the day we got the win and did our job," UCF head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "We were competitive and determined and fought to keep the ball out of the back of our net."

Corner Kicks
? UCF piled on the corner kicks on Thursday, drawing a season-high 12 against the Owls.
? The last time the Knights produced more than a dozen corner kicks was in 2012 against SMU.

Up Next
? UCF faces its third Top 25 opponent of the year when No. 20 UConn comes to town Sunday at 1 p.m.
? Since joining the American Athletic Conference in 2013, the Knights have lost to only one league foe: the Huskies. UConn won 1-0 during the regular season last year in Storrs and edged UCF, 1-0, in the American semifinals later that year.
