Holder Ties for Fifth

Franklin, Tenn. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's golf team finished 15th at the Mason Rudolph Championship, Sunday. Junior Ashley Holder, however, notched her second-straight top 10 finish of the season.

Holder finished tied for fifth among individuals after carding a three-day total of four-under par (70-72-70=212). The back-to-back American Athletic Conference Player of the Year has taken medalist honors twice previously and knows her hard work and perseverance will pay off again soon.

I'm really happy with how I'm playing, Holder said. I've been hitting the ball really well and giving myself good opportunities for birdies. I know if I can get some putts to start falling, I can shoot some low numbers and give myself a chance to win."

UCF head coach Emily Marron has worked hard to get the Knights ready for tournaments of this caliber. She consistently points to Holders work ethic as the key to her success.

" I'm really proud of Ashley, Marron exclaimed. To post two top 10 finishes in those quality fields is great! We are excited about her progress and I know she will keep working hard to get where she wants to be come the end of the season!"

Junior Ayaka Nakayama also had a strong final round for the Knights, carding a 71 (-1). Junior Johanna Larsson finished the day with a 76 (+4) while senior Mary Mulcahy and sophomore Laura Sojo turned in matching rounds of 78 (+6).

In team play, Alabama held on to beat Northwestern by a single stroke, while Georgia finished third. LSU and Virginia tied for fourth.
